The Science of Protection

Nanotechnology is the future

Nanoman coatings are engineered at the nanoscale. Applied as a liquid, they form an ultra-thin, invisible layer that bonds to the surface and changes how it interacts with water, oil, dirt and the weather. Every Nanoman formulation is PFAS-free, and most of our coatings are supplied as concentrates that are readily diluted on site, so less volume travels and is stored.

  1. A durable bond with the surface that stands up to weathering and everyday wear.
  2. Controlled surface energy, giving water-repellent (hydrophobic) or corrosion-resistant properties.
  3. A smoother surface at the microscopic level, so dirt has less to grip and wipes away easily.
  4. No change to the look, feel or breathability of the material.

The result: surfaces that stay cleaner for longer, need less maintenance and last longer.

This cutting edge, 21st century science is designed to deliver the following benefits:

  • Easy, DIY application
  • Most coatings supplied as concentrates: readily dilutable on site, cutting transport and processing costs
  • Safe to use, non-toxic materials
  • Cuts cleaning time and the use of chemical cleaners
  • Abrasion resistant
  • Long lasting (5 years for most surface coatings)
  • Maintains the look of surfaces by protecting them from stains and UV damage
  • Protection against water damage (including electrical circuits)
  • Prolong the life of assets and improve their resale or residual value

Depiction of Nanoman protective coating applied on porous surfaces, such as timber or stone.

When nano particles are applied to a surface, the random particles self-organise in a way that binding components adhere to the surface material and anti-adhesive components are directed outwards forming the top of the nano layer. This self-organisation forms an ultra-thin, invisible layer that is extremely durable and repels liquids. Contaminants such as dirt particles will sit on top of this coating but are easily wiped away with a damp cloth or simply by the rain.

The size of these nano particles is incredibly small, measured in the nano scale. This is thousands of times smaller than conventional coatings allowing them to fill cracks and crevices in surface materials like glass that can only be seen under an electron microscope.

On porous materials like timber, stone and fabric, they form a protective layer around the fibres of these substrates as well as penetrate into the pores of the substrate, spreading out and giving that material even more strength and protection. Whilst being incredibly small, these nano coatings will still allow air molecules to pass through enabling natural materials to breathe.

Nanoman products have all been developed and optimised for specific surfaces and their material characteristics. That way we can guarantee the best result for glass, stone, timber, fabrics and other materials is always achieved.

The Power of Nanocoating: Advanced Protection for Surfaces

Nanocoating technology has revolutionized surface protection across multiple industries, offering superior durability, water resistance, and enhanced performance. These ultra-thin protective layers, built at the nanoscale, create a molecular barrier that shields surfaces from environmental damage, corrosion, UV exposure, and even microbial growth. Whether applied to glass, metal, fabric, or automotive exteriors, nanocoating solutions ensure long-lasting protection with minimal maintenance.

How a Nanocoating Works

At its core, nanocoating utilizes advanced nanotechnology to modify surface properties at a microscopic level. The coating forms an invisible yet highly effective shield that repels water, dirt, and contaminants, reducing the need for frequent cleaning. Unlike traditional coatings, nanocoating bonds at a molecular level, creating a hydrophobic or oleophobic layer that enhances scratch resistance, prevents oxidation, and extends the lifespan of treated surfaces.

Applications of Nanocoating in Various Industries

  1. Automotive & Marine – Nanocoating solutions are widely used for car paint protection, windshield treatments, and marine vessels, preventing saltwater damage and reducing maintenance efforts.
  2. Glass & Construction – Window nanocoatings offer anti-reflective, anti-fog, and self-cleaning properties, making them ideal for skyscrapers, solar panels, and shower enclosures.
  3. Electronics & Gadgets – Waterproof nanocoatings safeguard street lamps, cameras, and circuit boards from moisture, dust, and rain.
  4. Textiles & Fashion – Clothing and footwear treated with nanocoating become stain-resistant, water-repellent, and more durable against everyday wear and tear.

Why Choose a Nanocoating Over Traditional Coatings?

Unlike conventional protective coatings, nanocoating delivers unmatched performance while remaining completely transparent and non-intrusive. Traditional coatings tend to wear off quickly and often alter the appearance of surfaces, whereas nanocoatings maintain the original look and feel while providing superior protection. Additionally, they contribute to sustainability by reducing the need for harsh chemical cleaners and extending the lifespan of materials.

The Future of Nanocoating Technology

As research in nanotechnology continues to advance, nanocoating applications are expanding into new frontiers, including medical devices, aerospace components, and even anti-bacterial surfaces. With increasing demand for long-lasting, high-performance coatings, nanocoating is set to become an essential solution for industries worldwide.
