Water droplets beading on treated fabric

PFAS-free water repellency for textiles

Spray-applied Nanoman Fabric + Textile protects fabric, leather and suede from water, dirt and stains, without changing how the material looks, feels or breathes. Supplied as a concentrate for lower freight and processing costs.

Free of PFAS

Fluorinated (PFAS) finishes are being restricted in the EU, the US and beyond. Nanoman Fabric + Textile is water-based and PFAS-free, so treated goods are ready for buyers who ask for fluorine-free finishing.

Invisible and breathable

Nanoparticles form a fine network around each fibre. Water beads and rolls off, while the fabric keeps its colour, handle and breathability.

Concentrated

Supplied as a concentrate and readily diluted on site. You ship and store less volume, and mix only what each run needs.

Easy to clean

Spills of water, coffee or wine sit on the surface instead of soaking in, and lift away with a paper towel or damp cloth.

Where it is used

  • Upholstery and soft furnishings
  • Carpets and rugs

Spray application in five steps

  1. Prepare. Fabric must be clean and dry, with no other coating, detergent or softener on it. Wash garments, then rinse in plain water.
  2. Dilute. Dilute the concentrate to working strength using our dilution guidance, and mix well.
  3. Spray. Spray from about 15 cm until the fabric is evenly damp. For production work, use standard HVLP spray equipment and wear gloves.
  4. Work it in. Brush upholstery and clothing with a soft brush; wipe leather in with a soft cloth. Carpets take two coats, wet-on-wet.
  5. Dry. Touch-dry in about an hour; allow 24 hours for full performance.

Protection lasts longest on items that are not washed often, such as upholstery, carpets and awnings. On regularly washed clothing it reduces gradually; simply reapply when water stops beading.

Concentrated supply for mills, finishers and distributors

Fabric + Textile is supplied as a concentrate that is readily diluted on site. Moving and storing concentrate instead of ready-to-use product cuts transport, storage and processing costs, and you prepare only as much working solution as each production run needs. Technical and safety data sheets are available, and we can advise on setting up spray application for your products.

Frequently asked questions

Is Nanoman Fabric + Textile PFAS-free?

Yes. It is a water-based formulation with no PFAS (fluorinated) chemistry.

Does it change the look, feel or colour of the fabric?

No. The treatment is invisible. Fabric keeps its original colour, handle and breathability.

How is it applied?

By spray. Dilute the concentrate to working strength, then spray from about 15 cm until the fabric is evenly damp, then brush it in with a soft brush. Leather is wiped in with a soft cloth; carpets take two coats applied wet-on-wet. For production volumes, standard HVLP spray equipment can be used.

How soon is the fabric ready to use?

It is touch-dry in about an hour. Allow 24 hours for full performance before exposing it to water or testing it.

Does the protection survive washing?

Protection reduces gradually with washing and wear. Wash in plain water or a mild, pH-neutral detergent, and reapply when water no longer beads on the surface. Reapplying does not harm the fabric.

Which fabrics can be treated?

Cotton, polyester and other synthetics, wool, silk, blends, leather and suede, used in clothing, uniforms, upholstery, carpets, awnings, shoes and bags.

Is it supplied ready to use or as a concentrate?

As a concentrate. It is readily diluted on site using our dilution guidance, so you transport and store less volume and reduce processing costs. Contact us for quotes and trial quantities.
